Some people who are not hospitalized and who have mild illness can experience persistent or late symptoms.
The doctors at Marque Medical have developed a Post-COVID Infection Assessment that evaluates common symptoms of a post COVID-19 infection. We utilize a detailed review of long-term symptoms, psychological ailments, imaging of the lungs, cardiovascular evaluation, advanced eye imagery, and blood work to determine if there may be more long-term conditions from contracting the disease.
The most reported long-term symptoms include:
Fatigue
Shortness of breath
Cough
Joint pain
Chest pain
Difficulty with thinking and concentration (sometimes referred to as “brain fog”)
Depression
Muscle pain
Headache
Intermittent fever
Fast-beating or pounding heart (also known as heart palpitations)
More serious long-term complications that appear to be less common but have been reported include:
Respiratory: lung function abnormalities
Cardiovascular: inflammation of the heart muscle
Renal: acute kidney injury
Dermatologic: rash, hair loss
Neurological: smell and taste problems, sleep issues, difficulty with concentration, memory problems
Why get a Post COVID Infection Health Assessment at Marque?
While most people who have been infected with COVID-19 recover and return to normal health, some can have lingering symptoms that last for weeks, or even months. We review long-term symptoms, psychological ailments, conduct advanced imaging of the eyes, x-Ray lungs and test for functional lung capacity, perform cardiovascular evaluation, and order blood work to determine if there may be more long-term conditions from contracting the disease.
Who can receive a Post COVID Infection Health Assessment?
Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or may have contracted the disease and experienced symptoms is eligible to get a post-infection assessment. You must be free from symptoms for at least 14 days prior to getting the exam. If you are currently experiencing symptoms, you are not eligible for a Post COVID-19 Infection Assessment.
What does it Cost?
Most PPO insurance plans, Medicare, and select HMOs will cover a more in-depth screening to check for potential long-term health risks resulting from COVID-19 infection. The screening must be medically necessary as determined by a Marque doctor, and the cost of the visit will be billed to your insurance plan. Any cost not covered by your plan will be billed directly to you as the patient. Additional testing or treatment may be required depending on the examination and care plan discussed with your provider. Please check your plan's benefits and eligibility, or contact us directly for more info.
How can I schedule a Post COVID Infection Health Assessment?
You can schedule the exam after you have completed a Wellness Exam at any Marque Urgent Care and the provider prescribes you a follow-up Post COVID-19 Infection Assessment. You will be able to schedule your appointment at the clinic or online at www.MarqueMedical.com.
