Accepting  the Scale

The goal is to keep a body mass index (BMI) within normal range.  Maintaining a healthy weight can protect against heart disease and diabetes.

Youthful Tip: Slowly shed the excess pounds. Overworking the body may disrupt the skin’s nutrition and hydration condition. Begin an exercise regimen that has been discussed and approved with a doctor.

Lay on Your Back

Those who tend to sleep on one side of the body or on the stomach may have noticed some unwanted facial wrinkles around the chin and cheeks.  Sleeping on the face causes stress to the delicate area and can form deep folds or wrinkles within the skin; it is also known to cause fluid accumulation under the eye.  Sleeping on the stomach may cause skin on the face to pull downward, and pressure from a pillow can worsen the existing creases.

Youthful Tip: Replace cotton pillowcases with silk or satin ones; this will decrease wrinkle formation by creating less pressure on the face.  Also, try to sleep on the back more often.  If suffering from lower-back pain, place a small pillow under the knees to promote the spine’s natural curvature.

Eat More Fruits and Veggies

Receiving the proper amount of nutrients that fruits and vegetables provide is youthfully rewarding.  Antioxidants found in strawberries and kale can help remove free radicals, which are known to damage body cells.  Citrus, like oranges and grapefruit, can enhance looks by preventing dry skin.  Of course in moderation, and by incorporating at least 5 servings a day, this healthy step will have a lasting effect for years to come.

Youthful Tip: Try eating a fruit or vegetable during every meal or as a snack.  Juicing, in the form of a low-calorie smoothie is another alternative.

Straighten Up and Smile

Good posture can make you look thinner, show confidence, and improve appearance, so avoid hunching forward and slouching.  Keep the shoulders relaxed and engage the core muscles, and don’t forget to smile more.  People don’t notice how the look of a bright happy smile can make them look more attractive.

Youthful Tip: Practice smiling when you speak.  Having a cheerful disposition while conversing may make you look younger and can make you feel younger and happier. Give it a whirl!
